(More customer reviews)I certainly agree with the reviewer who said this peeler performed awesomely on peaches.(It also works nicely on nectarines and other soft fruit.) It also comes with a hard plastic blade guard that protects the blade when it's tossed in a drawer.Like others, I purchased this item for the wrong reason (in order to qualify for the extra $25 off an order of $125 or more), but I am certainly glad I did.

5/11/06:This peeler also does a fine job on ripe tomatoes (for those who do not wish to peel using the traditional scalding method).

11/04/06:I have purchased several for 'stocking stuffers'.You might consider doing the same.

Cooper Cooler HC01-A Rapid Beverage Chiller, White and Grey Review

(More customer reviews)When I saw this, I knew right away from my college beer drinking days that this would work very well.We used to buy crushed ice and lay hot beer cans on their side and spun them until cold.The drawback: you had to spin them yourself.What I wouldn't have given to have access to a device that provided the fastest and most effective cooling possible.

Pros:
-Works very well (but only if you load as much ice as possible)
-Works very quickly
-Small
-Handles cans, beer bottles, wine bottles, and even odd shaped stuff like juice boxes that you don't want to spin
-A surprising number of settings to suit your taste
-Did a lot of research.As of 8/1/2006 could not find anything even remotely close to this good.
-Spinning IS NOT shaking, so soda and beer do not explode
-Uses ice, not a liner that needs 8 hours of freezer time, both convenient and a space saving option
-Items are not submerged under icy water like other competing units, so you don't have to dredge for your drink in cold water

Cons:
-No power off switch... in standby you get flashing lights on the front which is annoying
-Relatively loud, does not appear to have slow roll option to reduce noise
-Paper labels on wine bottles get beaten up pretty badly, bits of paper come off (bottle becomes unsightly)
-Draining water requires you to unplug at the wall and carry to a sink (unlike my espresso maker which has a lift out chamber)
-Requires a power source, not portable unless you are handy and build a battery with gusto (which I can do, but most wouldn't try)
-Wine bottles tend to drip a little on the counter as the cold ice water is pumped on them, so we have to put a trivet or thick potholder under the front two feet to help discourage dripping on the counter.

I am considering adding a "roll" switch so that I can turn the unit off without unplugging which is an easy modification anyone can do (one a scale of 1 to 10, it's a 1, or really cheap and easy).

Bottom line: Despite cons, I recommend this item.Had it a year and still going, popular at parties.

(More customer reviews)I tried this peeler for the first time today and everything went smoothly.The directions are easy to follow and it is designed for peeling small and medium size potatoes, carrots and apples.The potatoes and carrots have to be cut so they are about 1/2 inch shorter than the hub to wall bowl distance -- the maximum length is 2-3/4 inches (I had a large potato, so I cut it in half, then sliced about 3/4 inch off each piece to fit).

It took only 1-1/2 minutes for the potato (a russet) to be perfectly peeled.The peeler exerts a strong motion, but does not jump out of place.I held my hand on the lid just in case, but it was not necessary.

It also comes with an insert piece - a salad spinner with ring.The spinner can also be used as a colander at the end of the peeling process.All is dishwasher safe except the see-through cover and the motorized base.

In making recipes where many ingredients have to be peeled, this machine really lightens the task.I am very pleased with my purchase.

(More customer reviews)Good colander, terrific idea, but not up to OXO's outstanding standards. The convertible feature works really well, and I enjoy the many options it affords me. But the colander itself doesn't have holes everywhere, leaving significant areas that can hold water, so you have to tip it this way and that in order to make sure your food is completely drained. The other annoyance I've found is that there's some kind of invisible channel in the underside of the handles that collects and holds water in the dishwasher, dumping a waterfall on your clean, dry dishes when you pick up the colander to put it away. This really bugs me.

(More customer reviews)This is definitely worth the small price!I got one for Christmas, and have been using it non-stop since - it's fantastic.I buy my greens from a mega-mart in a huge container, pre washed, and rarely was able to use them up before they'd go bad.Since using this sac, my greens last SO much longer, and I definitely use them all up!!For my prewashed greens, I simply make sure the sac is damp before dumping them in there, then I toss it in the veggie draw in my fridge.The greens in my fridge now are a week old, and just as crisp and fresh as if I just got them.

(More customer reviews)These servers are easy to handle.The solid side v/s the open side is a wonderful idea when dealing with large bowls of chopped salads.They are large enough to handle any job, bet fit and work well in the hand.I se many wooden implements in my kitchen; actually I don't feel I could cook or serve without them, and I was glad to add these to my collection.It is recommend by the maker that you do not place these in a dishwasher.I would agree with this as I have ruined several other wooden kitchen tools by doing this in the past.Hand washing them is not all that much of a chore and they will last much, much longer. I highly recommend these servers and mixers.

Super Pet Hamster Run-Around Exercise Wheel Review

I had to rush one of my pet rats to the vet yesterday afternoon, after hours, because as she was running it the wheel, her tail became caught in the metal where the wheel attaches to the frame. Needless to say, she is missing two toes, about an inch of her tail and her face is is completely traumatized on one side after trying to free her tail. We were not home when this happened.

I would not recommend this product for use for rats, or any animal with a long tail. It is not safe!!!

(More customer reviews)The mop alone is excellent.I can't handle a heavy mop any more, and the swiffer type is too flimsy, with each pad good for cleaning only a very small area.I have tried to trim traditional mops and re-make them, craft my own substitutes for the disposable pad, etc.I was looking for something exactly like this mop.Add the spinner, and Wow!Just about perfect.It leaves the mop as wet or as dry as I want - my choice - and with so little effort.Love it.Now: make me a more durable one with metal spinner assembly and extra mop heads, maybe just a wee little tad larger in diameter, and name your price; I'll cheerfully pay it.I've had no problems with this one.I'd just have more confidence in something that feels more solid.

Snowflake Decal Envelope Review

(More customer reviews)WindowAlert Decals are thin plastic shapes that stick to the outside of windows and reflect UV light, so birds can see them, but they're inconspicuous to humans. The idea is to prevent or reduce window strikes without festooning your windows with unsightly paper and whatnot. The decals are supposed to look like frosted or etched glass to humans while appearing bright and solid to birds, because birds see UV light in addition to the parts of the spectrum visible to humans. In reality, the decals sometimes appear purplish and sometimes are nearly transparent, depending upon how the light is striking the window.

There are 4 decals per package. The instructions recommend placing them a few feet apart on the outside of your windows, making sure to put some where sky or open space is reflected, which would tend to be a bird's line of flight. The decals must be applied to the outside of the window, as they will be reduced to only 25% effectiveness if applied to the inside (most UV light does not penetrate the glass). They cannot be used on windows that have overlays, such as external tinting. They can be removed and reused; just rinse with warm water. You could clean the window without removing them, but you're likely to have trouble around the edges of the decals.

I bought the snowflake design on a lark, because I had previously taped paper snowflakes to my sliding glass door to deter birds. The four snowflakes are different designs, ranging 3 ?-4 inches in diameter. Maple leaves, butterflies, and hummingbird designs are also available. The leaves and butterflies stick to the window with no adhesive, like the snowflakes. The hummingbirds use a "low tack" adhesive and may be more difficult to remove. The others peel off easily. They're easy to apply to clean glass. If the glass is very cold, it may help to warm it up with warm water first. Then apply the decals and push any air bubbles out.

WindowAlert decals work just as well as solid objects stuck to the window, but they let the light through and are not so unsightly. The UV reflective coating does fade with light exposure. The instructions recommend replacing the decals every 9-12 months. I had one window strike after 9 months of use, and I noticed that the purplish cast had faded. So it's probably best to replace them regularly. Be sure to buy enough of them. I needed 2 packages to do the center section of a sliding glass door. WindowAlert is made by Schock Logistics, Inc, which also makes bird feeders, boxes, and bird-themed toys.

It holds six of my remote controls, all of which are regular-sized or, in the case of my LG TV remote, large or my Onkyo remote, fat. I like also the fact that I can insert my own personal pictures on the sides, although the ones the unit comes with are pleasant enough if you don't want to bother.

The unit is sturdy, but here is where you want to be careful. If you put the unit on its spinner bottom, any imbalance in your controller weights will tip it over. The base unit needs to be wider. I use it without the ability to spin. The unit is small enough so that all controllers are within easy reach, so if you use it this way, be sure to turn the picture you like best facing you.

This product fulfilled my expectations (except for the tipping over as described above.) All in all, a good buy. Works well for me.

Each fan comes with a balancing kit but only one had the barest wobble (and the balancing kit took care of that in about 2 minutes.) You can mount these flush to the ceiling (the blades are about 6-8" down from the ceiling that way) or with the included 8" downrod.

After 5 or so years of using this for scrampled eggs and other things the plastic propellers broke.If I could have found a replacement part, it would have lasted for another five years.

(More customer reviews)Quite frankly, this is one of the best kitchen products I've bought in a long time.The handles are adjustable, so it will fit any sink, and not slip (I've ruined a spaghetti dinner once when this happened).The holes are not so large that pieces of pasta fall out and touch the sink (yuck).It's collapsible and fits easily among my pizza and baking pans.My only complaint would be that there are some grooves in the handle, and when I take it out of the dishwasher, there's always water in there, but that's so minor, it's not worth taking away a star.

Twisted Metal Review

(More customer reviews)Yep, I can remember back in the day when the Playstation just came out and this was the first game i got back when the PS1 games came in those bulky cardboard cases instead of the smaller jewel cases. Well, this game is still a blast to play after all these years and is easily one of my favorite games of all time. This one had all the perfect levels and the perfect balance of characters set in a darker tone than the other games had besides TM:Black of course. I liked how each level had some destructible environments as well as the inside cockpit view in the cars. The stories for each of the characters were all interesting and made you want to play through with each character. Overall, this is a great game that will have you playing for quite a while and while your at it, check out TM2 which is an amazing game as well. You should especially check this one out if your a newer fan to the series and want to see the games roots.
