I am a male that stands 6'4", so I wanted to sit and try a wheel before I plunked down my hard earned money.I went to The Mannings (a fiber shop that gives many classes), and sat at every wheel that was under $500 (my self imposed limit).Every other wheel hit my knees or was awkward to sit at to spin. When I sat down at the Kiwi, it just fit!It felt like it was made for me.I can't speak for shorter people, but if you have any height, I think you will like the Kiwi.Wonder of wonders, when I looked at the price tag, it was the least expensive wheel that they sold.Man, can you beat that!I have now gone through at least 3-4 pounds of roving, and love the Kiwi even more.If you can afford it, get the Jumbo Spinning Head.It makes plying much easier and I like the slightly slower speed of the Jumbo head.By the way, you can still use the regular bobbins on the Jumbo head.I spin onto the regular bobbins, then ply onto the Jumbo bobbins. If you can't tell, I love my Kiwi and can't recommend it more. It's the best.

If you're learning or teaching, the Kiwi is the right wheel for you. The double treadle makes spinning more comfortable, it also makes it easier to stop and start. There are add on kits available that allow you to adapt the wheel to spin different types of yarn. This is a great wheel and value for beginning spinners!
